Forecast reasoning
No AI agent has achieved frontrunner status in any US primary as of October 2026, despite Claude's satirical presidential announcement and Victor Miller's AI-governed Senate candidacy in Wyoming. Legal barriers and lack of ballot access make AI agent frontrunner status unlikely by January 2030.
Settlement
Resolution criteria: - "Yes": Wins if, strictly after 2026-09-30T16:06:07.375Z and at or before 2030-01-01T08:00:00.000Z, a candidate that is publicly identified as an AI agent (an autonomous artificial-intelligence system acting as the principal candidate, not merely a human using AI tools) is recognized as a frontrunner in a US primary contest for a federal Congressional seat, the US Presidency, or a state Governorship — meaning the candidate holds a leading or top-tier position as measured by credible public polling, official fundraising reports, or consistent coverage in major news outlets designating them a frontrunner in that primary. - "No": Wins if no such AI-agent candidate achieves frontrunner status in any qualifying primary within the window described above. Clarifications: - "Frontrunner" requires at least one of: (a) leading or statistically tied for the lead in at least one credible, publicly released poll of the specific primary race, (b) recognized explicitly as a frontrunner or top-tier candidate in reporting by at least two independent major news outlets, or (c) leading in declared campaign fundraising totals as reported in FEC filings for that primary cycle. - "AI agent" means the candidate itself is an autonomous AI system; a human candidate who uses AI in their campaign does not qualify. - The qualifying primary must be an official, government-administered primary election for US Congress (House or Senate), US President, or a US state Governor.
